Lutein is a natural carotenoid, and zeaxanthin and zeaxanthin are isomers of each other. Both lutein and zeaxanthin are used as natural pigments because of their orange-red color.
Lutein is widely found in vegetables, fruits, flowers and other plants, and its chemical formula contains two ketone rings, which is the main pigment in the macular area of the human retina.
Our lutein products are isolated and extracted from marigold flowers in the flowering stage. The content of lutein is 5%-80%, which can be widely used in food colorants, health products, feed additives, etc.
Name | Lutein | CAS | 127-40-2 |
Molecular weight | 568.871 | EINECS | 204-840-0 |
Boiling point | 702.3 ℃ | Water soluble | insoluble in water |
Melting point | 183 ℃ | Density | 0.9944 g/cm³ |
Application | Medicine, health care products, food, cosmetics, feed, etc. |
1.Protect your eyes
Lutein lipids in food produce lutein through the combined action of bile and pancreatic lipase in the small intestine, which is absorbed by the small intestinal mucosa. Lutein has the functions of filtering blue light, protecting the retina and antioxidant.
2. Improve immunity
Lutein is now ubiquitous in foods for infants and young children as a regular added nutrient.
3. Antioxidant
4. Feed additives
Lutein is used in chicken feed and can be redder in egg yolks.
