What is Xylo-oligosaccharides ?
Xylo-oligosaccharides are functional polymeric sugars composed of 2-7 xylose molecules bound by β-1,4 glycosidic bonds. It can selectively promote the proliferative activity of intestinal bifidobacteria. Its bifidogenic factor function is 10-20 times that of other polymeric carbohydrates.
Xylo-oligosaccharides are crystalline colorless to light brown liquid or white solid. The syrup is a light yellow viscous liquid. The relative sweetness is about 40%, and the sweetness is the same as that of sucrose. Heat and acid resistance (Ph2.5-8.0, 120℃, 1h), no damage, no change in storage for 90 days at Ph2.5-8.0 and 37℃.
Uses of xylo-oligosaccharides: sweeteners, nutritional additives.
Benefits of Xylo-oligosaccharides
1. Reduce the production of toxic fermentation products and harmful bacterial enzymes
2. Inhibit pathogenic bacteria and diarrhea
Xylo-oligosaccharides have strong adsorption to pathogenic bacteria, such as Escherichia coli, Enteritidis, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Aeromonas hydrophila, etc. can be adsorbed on xylo-oligosaccharides. Sugar is not degraded by digestive enzymes in the intestine, and can carry attached pathogenic bacteria to be excreted through the intestine, thereby preventing diseases from clustering in the intestine and preventing diarrhea.
3. Prevent constipation
Bifidobacterium uses xylo-oligosaccharide to produce a large amount of short-chain fatty acids; it can stimulate intestinal peristalsis, increase the wetness of feces, and maintain a certain osmotic pressure, thereby preventing constipation.
4. Protect liver function
Ingestion of xylo-oligosaccharides can reduce the formation of toxic metabolites and greatly reduce the burden on the liver to decompose toxins.
5. Lower Serum Cholesterol
6. Lower blood pressure
7, can enhance the body's immunity.
Xylo-oligosaccharide promotes the cells, cell wall components and extracellular secretions of bifidobacteria, and improves the immunity of the body.
9. Can promote the body to produce a variety of nutrients, including vitamins B1, B2, B6, B12, niacin and folic acid.
10. Prevent and protect dental caries and inhibit the growth of oral bacteria.
Dental caries is caused by the erosion of oral microorganisms, especially Streptococcus. Xylo-oligosaccharides are not suitable substrates for these oral microorganisms, so they will not cause dental caries, thereby inhibiting the growth of oral bacteria.
