MCC Microcrystalline Cellulose

 

The main component of MCC microcrystalline cellulose is β-1,4-glucose polymer, with a degree of polymerization of about 200-300 and a crystallinity of up to 60-80%, while ordinary cellulose is about 40%.

 

Preparation process:

 

• Raw materials: natural cellulose such as wood pulp and cotton lint.
• Hydrolysis: hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid treatment to remove amorphous regions and retain crystalline regions.
• Mechanical crushing: spray drying or ball milling to produce 10-200 μm particles.
