Theabrownin powder is the most abundant pigment component in tea, generally accounting for 10%-25% of the dry weight. It is a polyphenol polymer formed by oxidative polymerization of monomers such as Catechin and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG).

 

Its molecular weight usually ranges from 1,500 to 30,000 Da, and its complex three-dimensional network structure results in a direct absorption rate of less than 5% in the human body.
