Betulin Powder

 

Betulin powder is a natural pentacyclic triterpenoid compound mainly extracted from birch bark. It has multiple biological activities and is widely used in medicine, cosmetics and food.

 

It's primarily derived from the bark of the Betula platyphylla tree, comprising up to 30% of its dry weight. It's also found in other species of the Betulaceae family.

 

The extraction process involves extracting the bark powder with ethanol reflux, followed by concentration, purification with a diatomaceous earth column, and recrystallization. Supercritical CO₂ fluid extraction can be used to enhance purity.
